How long have you been in business?
Norman Penton founded Bridal Memories Studio in
1970. We have been in our Kenner location since 1980 and I
have been the main wedding photographer since 1990. I originally
only planned to shoot weddings on the weekends to pay for college, but
found that I loved the work enough to pursue it as my career. After
graduating from The University of New Orleans in '97, I have been putting
my marketing degree to good use here at the studio. In January 2001,
I earned my professional certification from the Professional Photographers of
America.
Will you personally photograph my wedding?
Absolutely yes. Call me at the studio
(or email) and I'll be happy to check my availability on your date and
send you my price list.
How long will my photographs last?
This is a hotly debated issue in the photo
and imaging community. We process and print every wedding in our
own lab located right here in the studio. If I'm going to have a
life long career in wedding photography, my prints are going to have to
last a long, long time. A recent independent test found that a color
paper manufactured by Fuji called Crystal Archive lasted 4 times longer
than the leading paper manufacturer's product. Aside from its longevity,
Crystal Archive also looks great!
How long will it take you to take the formal group family pictures
at my wedding?
At the typical wedding with an average number in
the bridal party at most reception locations, it will take me 20 to 30
minutes to complete. I am a firm believer that well lit, well
composed family portraits need not take up an hour of your reception time.
Although there are many factors that can effect the amount of time, I'll
be happy to discuss them with you. Communication with your family and friends
before the wedding day will help speed things along.
Do I get to keep all of my proofs?
Yes you do. I include a preview album with
all of my packages. This is a great gift for mom and dad, and a great
safety feature: if anything happens to your book in the way future
(fire or flood) we can work with the images in your parent's preview album.
I do suggest that you buy the digital negatives from me and keep them in a safety
deposit box or maybe Fort Knox just to keep them safe (hey, I'm proud of
my work!) They're available for purchase five years after your wedding
date. If you do not buy your digital negatives, then I'll keep them as safe as I
can for as long as I can.
Do you proof online?
Yes. A few weeks after your wedding you will be sent an email with instructions and a password. Family and friends worldwide will be able to see them.
Do you also work in black and white?
Yes, I love the classic look and the romantic feeling
that black and white can convey to the viewer. There are two ways
that we can get black and white portraits into your album.
First, I have a black and white photo journalistic package that you must
add on to one of the wedding packages. You'll get black and white
along with color proofs in the preview album. If your fiancée is not open to
black and white, we can print color for him/her and b&w for you!
My mother has a black and white print in her wedding album and only
the flowers are in color. Can you do this?
Yes, hand tinting of black and white photographs
has been around since photography's beginning. Colorists, the artists
that did this sort of work, are hardly around anymore. I have taken
to time to learn this wonderful craft and am always learning something
new from other artists. Most of my bride's albums include one or
two hand tinted black and whites. People will stop and dwell on that
image in the wedding album every time!
A little bit about my family: My beautiful and talented wife Theresa and I have a Mount Carmel honor role student named Sarah and a St. Clement preschooler named Lilly.
